Raise and Rise

A Spreadsheet-and-Call Package to Map Out a Strategy for Raising Your Rates

£150 (payment plans available from £25 per month)

Raising your rates with existing clients is one of the hardest and most daunting things you’re going to have to do as a freelancer and small business owner. When you’re considering putting your prices up, know you’re not alone if you find yourself making excuses and worrying or even spiralling. It’s completely normal to be concerned that your biggest customer might push back and that you could even end up losing them.

However, if you want to grow your business and develop a sustainable way of working that will support you over time, raising your rates isn’t something you can ignore. You can’t avoid pricing discussions and put them off forever, especially with inflation at its current highs.

My Raise and Rise package is here to support you as you navigate raising your rates with your existing clients. I created this offering to provide you with a well-thought-out strategy tailored to both your unique circumstances and your individual customers.

Does one of the below describe how you feel about raising your rates?

  • You know you need to raise your prices, but you’re worried that it’ll backfire and you’ll end up losing your clients.

  • There’s a particular customer you want to raise your rates with, but you aren’t sure how to go about it.

  • You don’t know to what extent you can and should risk increasing your prices with certain customers.

  • You’re unsure how to communicate your rate increase to your clients.

If you can identify with any of the above, my Raise and Rise package will give you the support you need to take concrete action while reducing the risk of things not going the way you want them to.

Together, we’ll create a strategy for you to increase your prices with your existing clients. We’ll consider each of your customers individually, and we’ll discuss the best course of action based on your desired outcomes and main concerns.

Having already increased my rates with a number of customers, my confidence dipped when my biggest client reacted negatively. Talking to Susie and getting an external perspective really helped me to take a step back, remove the emotion from the situation and rationalise things objectively. After our call, I felt so much better and had a clear course of action I was happy to follow. It’s amazing how Susie can get you back on track just by asking the right questions and pointing you in the right direction!

How does Raise and Rise work?

When you sign up for Raise and Rise, you’ll book a time for a 60-minute 1:1 call and receive a client assessment spreadsheet to work through before we chat. The spreadsheet comes with a video tutorial, so you’ll know exactly what you need to do and how to fill it out.

During the 60-minute session, we'll work together to come up with a strategy for you to raise your prices with your existing clients. We’ll talk through your customers one by one before planning how you'll negotiate your rate increase with them. We’ll go into depth and even discuss things like how to word your emails and communicate your increases.

At the end of our call, you'll leave with a written plan to follow as you have those conversations with your clients. You’ll also receive a recording of the session, just in case there’s anything you’d like to refer back to.

I would (and have already!) recommend these sessions to other freelancers. As I am not a numbers person I have found them to be incredibly helpful. I would have struggled to work these calculations out without the tools and strategies covered and they have made my accounts strategies so much easier! Susie is very helpful and provides extremely useful information on how to manage finances, using methods that are straightforward and uncomplicated.

Of course, increasing your prices always involves a certain degree of risk as your current clients could refuse to pay your new rates. But if you take the right approach and are strategic about increasing your prices, you’ll also increase the probability of things playing out the way you want them to.

You might know me by my Instagram handle @the.organizedfreelancer, but if we haven’t met yet, I’m Susie - a freelance copy editor and translator with a passion for empowering others to achieve their goals.

I’ve always been an organised person with a head for numbers. I worked as a university administrator before starting my freelance business, and that experience gave me a head-start on running a business in an efficient way.

I want to see a future where every freelancer feels connected, supported, and empowered, and I think connection and kindness will get us closer to that reality. That’s why I use my knowledge and skills to support freelancers to achieve their goals and create businesses that align with their own values while supporting them financially.

I created my Raise and Rise package because I see so many freelancers and small business owners struggling to make ends meet. I know it’s hard to raise your prices with existing clients, but it really is essential if you want a sustainable business that earns what you need to make. Especially with inflation and the rising cost of living, increasing your prices is a necessity rather than a nice-to-have.

Do have a chat with Susie as this is going to be the best money you’ll invest in your business this year. She’s able to make you take a step back from your business and understand what you should do to take it to the next level, whatever that might mean for you (more money, more me time, etc.).
